After a recent investment in another vendor’s industrial converting line, the evolution of the local market for hygienic tissue risked narrowing opportunities for a leading US converting company. The hygiene industry demands professional rolls with higher density, driven by two main factors: lower environmental impact and reduced labor costs. Higher density rolls require less packaging waste and transport-related pollution while increasing product durability, necessitating fewer changes by cleaning crews.

The new products were beyond the capabilities of the logsaw originally installed on the line. The customer then went to the market to replace the unit and restore competitiveness. After evaluating different cutting options available for both industrial logsaws and band saws, the customer decided to purchase a new Unico365 Industrial Logsaw. The customer reports can now deliver finished products of higher density and better quality, with higher cutting accuracy, reduced waste, and smaller trim dimensions in many SKUs, resulting in the production of an additional roll per log.
